Little Miss Adelyn

At 14 months, Little Miss Adelyn is slowly getting closer to taking her first steps. She will stand up by herself, and make sure you take notice. She'll dance and clap, but she won't move her legs. She can stand pretty long by herself, but she won't take a step.

Adelyn likes to walk with assistance, meaning she'll only do it if we are holding her hands. She gets excited, and she can go pretty fast. Adelyn also likes to practice going up the stairs, and down the stairs, so the gates are usually up. With all this new found exercise, Adelyn is also thinning out, her baby fat is melting away, and she looks a lot leaner, like her sister.

Adelyn is becoming more vocal about what she wants. If she wants you to read, she'll point to the book, and say, "book." If she wants you to play and sing "Row, Row, Your Boat," she'll rock back and forth, and say, "row, row, row." If she is hungry, she'll say, "mum, mum, mum." Adelyn can also say "gert gert," if she is requesting yogurt. Adelyn will point to her nose, when you say, "nose, nose," and she'll point to her ears, for "ears, ears." And when she's proud of herself, she'll say, "leck leck" (smart in Chinese).

During meals, Adelyn likes to feed herself. It started off with finger feeding, and now it has progressed to using a spoon and fork. We'll put the food on the utensil, and she likes to feed herself. Sometimes, she will want full control of feeding herself, and gets upset if we try to help her.

Playtime with Adelyn includes taking care of babies; she likes to feed and wash the stuffed animals, and give them lots of hugs. She also likes to put items into things, such as bags or baskets, and take them out again. Adelyn also likes to hang out in the reclining baby chair. She likes to lounge, and look at books or play with small toys when she's there.

Adelyn can be found in the downward dog position on the floor. It looks like she'll roll over, but she doesn't. She likes to look at things, and sometimes she'll try to grab things through her legs. It's pretty cute to watch her play and discover the up-side down world.

And of course, Adelyn loves to see what her big sister is up to...which usually, gets her into trouble.
