Visits with Santa

This week, we had a few visits with Santa.  One at Layla's Christmas party at preschool, and another was at Iris' Breakfast with Santa.  Our girls must have been good, because Santa brought gifts for them.  We placed the gifts under the tree for Christmas day.

Star Light, Star Bright...

What a bright night!  We just came back from Bright Nights in Stanley Park.  The kids are in bed, and now I can relax, and reflect.

It was a busy day to begin with.  Len left early for a CE conference, and after breakfast, I discovered Adelyn standing up in her crib.  Her diaper and pants were on the floor.  Not a good sign.  Upon a closer look, she had wet her bed, her pillow, blankets, and sheets :(  Everything had to go in the wash, and Adelyn got to take a morning shower to start off her day.  Then our kitchen sink clogged, and the water wouldn't drain on both sides.  What a morning!

The afternoon was smoother, I wrapped a few gifts while the girls played dress-up.  In the late afternoon,  I had to pick up Len from downtown.  On the drive down, Layla was screaming songs, and then both of them would say, "Eeeeee..." at the top of their lungs for a long time.   Boy, was I glad to see Len!

The girls enjoyed a wonderful evening with their friends.  They loved the Christmas lights and the colourful Christmas displays around the park.

We ended the night with pirate packs at White Spot, and screams of laughter and delight from the kids as we left the restaurant.   Everyone left in good spirits and a smile on their face.  A great night for Bright Lights!

Waiting in line for the train.

Just after the train ride, "cheese!"

At the North Pole display, the kids marvelled over the miniture candy city.

This was my best picture of all the kids together.

Adelyn finished her ice cream, and licked her bowl clean.

Thanks for such a fun night!

Froehliche Weihnachten!

In case you were wondering, that's "Merry Christmas!" in German.  Last night, we took the girls to the Vancouver Christmas market, it's an outdoor German Christmas market that is located in the downtown area.  We buddled up, and braved the cold for a few hours to marvel the Christmas displays, ornaments, and decorations.   We enjoyed a big chewy German pretzel, and sampled some chocolate fondue.  The highlight was the merry-go-round, the girls got to ride two times. With a live band playing Christmas carols, it wasn't hard to get into the Christmas spirit.

Christmas Cheer in the Malls

Two weeks ago, the girls had their picture with Santa in Metropolis.  The girls marvelled over the light displays, and waited patiently in line.  This year, the plan was to have the girls take a picture with Santa by themselves, but it didn't work out that way.  Layla was fine, but Adelyn was terrified, so we had to be in the pictures again.  After the photo session, the girls enjoyed a train ride, a walk around the mall, lunch at Boston Pizza, and ice cream.  What a treat for the girls!

Last Sunday, we went to Lougheed Mall to check out the Christmas displays.  They had beautiful trees and giant snowmen!  The girls also enjoyed the miniture train ride around Santa's workshop.

Last night, the girls went to Coquitlam Centre in their pjs for a kids event.  The girls made crafts, and decorated gingerbread and buns.  The girls thought it was so fun to go to the mall in their jammies!
