The last couple of days, Adelyn has been very clingy and whiny because she has new teeth coming in. Poor Adelyn, has a been eating less, and her sleep is has been affected by the pain. She's been very sensitive and shedding a lot of tears. We hope that it passes quickly, as we miss happy go-lucky Mui Mui.
The biggest change in Adelyn is her communication skills. She is starting to use a lot more words. And, she has also started to string two words together, usually with the word "more." "More i-keem (ice cream), more gurt gurt (yoghurt), more jus (juice), more peas, are the top ones. She can also call a person, and say more, "Poh Poh, more!" especially, when blueberries are in sight.
Adelyn enjoys songs with actions, right now her favourite is Incy Wincy Spider, it's so cute to watch her do the hand actions. She also enjoys Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. If you pause, she will complete the lyrics for you. In the car, she will request, "Dic Dic Dac," a chinese song about the rain. At times, we can even hear Adelyn singing her own songs.
Adelyn can also count by two's up to ten. If you start with "one," she'll say "two," and she'll alternate with you until ten. If you say "one, two, ...," she'll say "three!" She can also do it in Chinese, "yut, yee,..." and she'll say, "sam!"
Adelyn also likes to play pee-ka-boo! She'll cover her eyes, and say "pee-ga-boo" to peep out at you. She is also fond of the nursery rhyme, Rain is Falling Down, because there is a part where the "Sun is peeking out! Peek!"
Adelyn enjoys books. She will pick books from the book shelf, and bring them over, and either say, "book" or "dook dook (read in chinese)." She especially enjoys, My Daddy Loves Me, she likes to make sounds as we read the book. Another favourite right now, is "Oy-i-ya" or Olivia.
Mui Mui also likes the word "sit" and "cho cho" right now. She can be heard saying that to her toys, as she tries to prop them up. And she'll say "sit" if she wants you to do it, or if she wants to sit in your lap. Addy enjoys building with blocks. And, she enjoys making sticking Mega blocks/Little People's Buiders set together, and making little towers. Stuffed animals and dolls still interest her, she likes to feed them, and model what we do. It's amazing to see what they absorb from real life and bring into play.
The potty situation is still going well for #2's, we usually get them in the big potty. She'll nod, and start walking there if she wants to be on the seat. And today, she called "pee-pee," and she went in the big potty! A lucky catch, because her diaper was already wet from before.
Adelyn likes to go "gai gai" (out in chinese), so when we are getting ready to leave, we'll tell her to put on her shoes. She'll put her shoes and socks to her feet, and say "hi hi (shoes in chinese)." She is also eager to get her jacket on and step out of the house.
The girls have definitely started fighting over a lot more things, and this includes people. If Ngee Ngee (Grandma Lam) is carrying Adelyn, Layla will come over and want her to put Adelyn down, and wants Ngee Ngee to carry her. Or if Adelyn is sitting with me, Layla will join us, and the girls will start pushing each other, usually starting off with small nudges from their feet.
Most of the time, the girls fight over toys, and Adelyn can often be heard shouting the word, "share! share! share!" But when the girls are apart, they miss each other! Adelyn is definitely more clingy. She'll follow me in the kitchen, and hang around the kitchen mat. One time, I left her in the living room surrounded by all her toys, and all she did was put her head down on the cushion, like there was nothing to do! I guess it's not fun to play with toys, if there's no one around to fight with you, or take them away...
