A Girls Update

A-A-A-Adelyn!

Adelyn really enjoys her food right now. She likes to feed herself, and enjoys food with texture. With berries in season, she's been getting a lot of antioxidants. Adelyn likes to watch what we are eating and wants what we are having, calling out and pointing "mum, mum." The moment we pull food away from her she will quickly change her facial expression and cry, especially popsicles and ice cream. Her appetite is big, and it's great, I don't have to worry if she has eaten enough. Some days I think she eats more than Layla. Adelyn also likes to share her food. She will often hold out her Cheerios or blueberries and try to give it to you. Thanks for sharing!

Adelyn has left her millitary crawling and moved onto full blown crawling, using her knees and legs to push herself forward. She can go further, and we really have to watch her, especially when we are upstairs. Time to put the baby gates up again.

Adelyn is also pulling herself up onto furniture, and climbing over us when we're on the floor with her. The days of being carried are slowly disappearing, she prefers to be on the ground trying all her new skills.

Adelyn really likes to be on the move, she gets super excited when we carry her and run. She likes to be chased by Layla and chase others, and she'll kick her legs and flap her arms out to show her excitement. Adelyn also likes to dance, when she hears music she will bob her head and body, it's pretty cute!

Adelyn has also developed some new words, she can say "Jeh Jeh," for sister, "Bah Bah" for dad (for sure), "Ngee Ngee" for Len's mom. She still uses "mah mah, wow, mum mum, and wheeee!!" She can also blow kisses with the back of her hand. And gester with her hand for something that she wants.

La- La- La-LAYLA!

The things that Layla really loves right now, are the beach and the swings. She loves going to the park and playing on the swings. She loves being pushed really high. Since going to the beach, she has been asking when we are going back.

At home, Layla likes to play pretend a lot. Just the other day, Daddy and Layla had a nice tea party. And last night, she played baby with her doll. We hadn't seen that in awhile. It was really comforting to see her be so caring to her baby. She would put Baby on the potty, and wash her bum. Then give her milk, and put her to bed.

Just for fun, that same night, Len started crying like a baby, and asking for a bottle. So, Layla grabbed the fake bottle, and started feeding it to him. Then I would cry, and she would run to grab the bottle from Len, and bring it to me. Len would start crying again, and she will grab the bottle away from me. We had fun tormenting Layla with our crying, and giving her a taste of being a stressed out parent. We can be so mean...

Layla has really taken an interest in playing with big kids. At the library, she went up to a girl who was around 8 years old, and kept following her around asking her, "What are you doing?" "What's your name? I'm Layla, do you want to play with me?" "What are you doing?" "What are you doing?" She can ask that question a million times, even if you tell her, "nothing." 5 seconds later she will ask again. And when you are talking to her, she will act like she is listening by replying, "yeah, yeah, yeah." Although, I'm not sure she's really paying attention or not.

Layla + Adelyn = Sisters

The girls enjoy playing together. One of their favourite games together is playing Peek-A-Boo around the couch. Adelyn will pull herself up to find Layla hiding. Layla is very good at being unpredictable at popping up and surprising her around the couch.

The one thing I really like, is watching the girls enjoy having their bottles together. It's very calming to see them laying down, and they are both quiet at the same time. We know Layla is getting way too old for the bottle. She will drink from a cup, but she drinks more from the bottle, and we know exactly how much she's getting. She will have to let go of it some day...

Most of the time the girls play nice, but Layla can be quite the bully. Layla likes to roll on top of Adelyn, which makes Adelyn frustrated and scream loudly. Just the other day, I left the girls to play while I did something in the kitchen. I came back to see Layla head-butting Adelyn, and Adelyn screaming. There are times when Layla will grab a toy out of Adelyn's hands, and Adelyn will freak out and start crying. We know it won't be long before Adelyn starts fighting back.

They grow up so fast!
