Adelyn's Update

Adelyn is 2.5 years old, and she'll be starting preschool this September.  Already!?!?!

She is a sweet girl, full of smiles and bursting with songs, but if she doesn't like it her way, well... she is very good at turning on the tears, and crying at the top of her lungs, and sometimes swatting.  And, she has a magical switch of turning off instantly when she wants to.  Adelyn is not shy about it either, I've been in a stand off with her in Walmart, and carried her off crying because she didn't want to leave, and there have been a few incidents at restaurants.  It looks like the terrible twos have started to creep in.

Adelyn is very much like her sister, she likes to sing and perform.  Sometimes, she'll make up her own words and think it's super funny, and laugh, and laugh, and laugh.  For example, she thought it was hallarious, when she sang, "Mary had a little skunk!"  She couldn't stop laughing, I love those times.

Adelyn is very interested in puzzles, they can keep her busy, and she's so happy when she finishes.  She can easily finish a 24 piece puzzle on her own.  She also likes puzzles on the iPad, and wooden puzzle trays.

Adelyn knows how to count to ten, and how to sing the ABC song.  She knows most of her colours now.  She enjoys stories, and sometimes she'll even read to us.  She'll make up her own story and flip the pages of the book.

On the potty front, Adelyn is still in diapers.  She is better, and we have tried days with just underwear at home.  She has even surprised me with going on the potty by herself.  She can go with a dry pull-up for most of the day, but when she's caught up in something, she can forget and have an accident.  It looks like it's improving, so I'm crossing my fingers to have her out of diapers in a few months.

Adelyn likes to climb and bounce.  She also likes being chased, but there is one thing that she just hasn't mastered.  Jumping.  She doesn't know how to jump off the ground with her feet together.  She thinks that she can jump, and she'll say, "Look at me, Mommy!" but she's half skipping, galloping, on her tippy-toes.  We've tried holding her hands, and telling her to jump, but she ends up on her tippy toes, or just one foot.  Silly girl, we have to get you on a trampoline!

Adelyn definitely brings happiness and smiles when she steps into a room.  Her little body is always bopping up and down, and you just can't help but join her.  We love you Mui Mui!
